Still Slowly Streaking!! {Blog Link-up}

streak

Ooookay, now I’m starting to feel the effects of running every day! I. Am. Tired.

I’ve gone back and forth, back and forth on stopping the streak and resting my legs and each time I tell myself it’s only a mile. But then I say, a mile is a mile. That’s nothing to knock off.

So I’m still going. Slowly, but I’m still going. I like to call Salt, Speedy Streaker; I’m Struggling Streaker jaja!! :  ) Here’s my Streak Week Re-cap:

Thursday  12/19, Friday 12/20, and Saturday 12/21 I re-capped  in detail here. I was crazy person and ran almost 20 miles in those three days!

Sunday through Thursday 12/22-26 have been one… single… mile…. each day.

And that’s it. There’s the re-cap! Nothing too exciting

Total Streaking Mileage: 88 miles

I decided from the last time I wrote to give myself a little break and seeing that it was the holidays and I’d have my husband home for almost an entire week, I figured no time like now to lighten the mileage. I’ve been foam rolling and icing every night and stretching, and also hoping that my leg heals a bit so I can perform well in my ½ and continue to train for my full.

I have a short long run planned for this Saturday and then I’m going back to a one mile a day until New Year’s. I signed up for the Commitment Day 5K my gym sponsors so that’ll be Wednesday and I plan to continue my *regular training leading up to my ½ mid-January. (*I plan on knocking off a running day—4 days to 3—and making it another cross training day per my doctor’s suggestion leading up to my 1/2).

We’ll see how it goes. You know I’ll keep you posted!

Here’s a holiday pic of my two sweeties :  )

12 Days of Fitmas-Day 12!

12 Days of Fitmas-Day 12! Yay, we made it!

On the 12th Day of Fitmas….

DON’T FORGET WHY YOU STARTED

What made you decide to get fit? Sometimes it’s important to go back to that answer when the going gets rough. We all start so motivated in the beginning and then when the excitement wears off, we start to lose steam.

Or in my case, injuries happen. It seems as if since I got the results of my MRI my leg has been worse. I had been able to run on it up to and had been doing really well as you’ve seen in my updates, but in the last week the pain has increased.

It hurts when I walk up and down my stairs, it hurts when I stand for too long, it hurts when I nick it against something. It doesn’t feel right.

My doctor had told me that I would know when I would need to stop. He wanted me to stop running a long time ago but of course stubborn me said I felt fine. And at the time I did.

But not now.

I have a few things on my mind. I have my ½ marathon mid January and I’m debating laying off running and doing other types of cardio and strength training and then seeing how I feel when the race comes if I’m up for 13.1. Or, I could skip that race altogether and just focus on my first full in March.

Right now, I’m leaning towards the former. Of course I want to run.

But I also want to be able to do for a long time. This is something I keep reminding myself. Races there will be aplenty. I need to make sure I stay healthy so that I can continue to work towards the goals I’ve set. The why I started getting serious about running in the first place—to meet those goals.

Sometimes you just need to go back to the beginning.

12 Days of Fitmas-Day 11: Eating Healthy

On the 11th Day of Fitmas….

::crickets::

I know I should have at least one day about how important eating healthy is to staying fit but….I can’t write about something I’m not personally doing.

I’ve written about my food struggles before; I just can’t eat healthy. This is such a weak spot for me, I mean, I can workout forever and ever and ever but when it comes to eating right, I can’t.

I’ve come a long way by curbing my fast food intake. This was a huge step for me. However, this continues to be a struggle:

I have cut it down to about 2 cans a day but as far as eliminating it completely, I don’t know if that will ever happen.

It’s hard for me to say I’m dedicated and committed to my training when I know I’m not  doing EVERYTHING possible to make sure I meet my goal.

I can make excuses like everything in moderation, it’s not like I do it everyday (I do), or I balance it out by drinking tons of water. There’s nothing good about soda. I know this and still drink it.

I also just love bad food.

Most of what I eat is processed, quick and easy to make, and yummy. This part of my life is where I need help.

–What advice would you give a bad food eater?

–Do you struggle with eating healthy?

P.S. These sound amazing…
